Etiqa Takaful contributed RM2.4 million to build 46 permanent houses for flood victims in Kelantan. 15 houses will be built in Kampung Pahi, Kuala Krai and 31 houses will be build in Kampung Lebir, Gua Musang. The contribution comes from Etiqa Takaful zakat money and also from the 'amal jariah' fund, which is basically the excess contribution by Etiqa Takaful customers. For this project, Etiqa Takaful partnered with Islamic Aid Malaysia.
Construction of the houses have started recently and is expected to be completed in early June, in time for the families to prepare for and celebrate Ramadhan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Each will have 3 bedrooms, 2 toilets, a kitchen and a living room and will be build on stilts up to 8 feet height.
